Initial Film opener script blog post

 Setting:

A quiet city park at dusk. The streetlights flicker to life as the sun dips below the skyline, casting long shadows across the walking paths. Leaves rustle in the cool evening breeze, and the distant hum of traffic blends with the occasional laughter of parkgoers. A wooden bench sits near a still lake, surrounded by tall oak trees swaying gently in the wind.

Scene 1: The Meeting

(A golden glow from the sunset reflects off the water. LILA, a young woman in her mid-20s, sits on a worn wooden bench, flipping through a well-loved book. ETHAN, about the same age, approaches with a hesitant but charming smile, holding two cups of coffee.)

Ethan: (clears his throat, shifting on his feet) Hey. Sorry to bug you, but… is that The Wanderer’s Tale?

Lila: (looks up, surprised) Yeah. You know it?

Ethan: (grinning) Know it? I’ve read it three times. It’s a masterpiece.

Lila: (raises an eyebrow, intrigued) Most people haven’t even heard of it.

Ethan: Well, most people are missing out. (holds out a coffee) Thought you might need a refill.

Lila: (smirks, taking the cup) Smooth move.

Ethan: (chuckles, sitting beside her) Gotta impress a fellow book nerd somehow.

(They talk, their laughter mixing with the sounds of the city. The conversation flows effortlessly—books, movies, travel dreams. There’s an instant connection, the kind that feels like they’ve known each other forever.)

Scene 2: The Shift

(Night creeps in. The air turns crisp, and the once-lively park now feels eerily still. The streetlights flicker, casting strange, shifting shadows.)

Lila: (rubbing her arms) It’s getting cold. Maybe we should head out?

Ethan: (staring at the lake, expression unreadable) Do you… feel that?

Lila: (frowning) Feel what?

Ethan: (voice distant, almost hollow) Like something’s watching us.

(A sudden gust of wind rustles the trees. The streetlights buzz, then flicker again—this time, longer.)

Lila: (uneasy) Ethan?

(Ethan sways slightly, his hand pressing against his forehead. His breathing turns shallow, eyes darting like he’s trying to shake off a fog.)

Ethan: (voice strained) I don’t… I don’t feel right…

(Suddenly, his body jerks violently. He collapses to his knees, trembling.)

Lila: (kneeling beside him) Ethan! What’s wrong?

(His breathing quickens, chest rising and falling in sharp gasps. Then, as if something inside him shifts, he slowly lifts his head. His eyes—once warm and familiar—are now pitch black, empty voids reflecting no light. His lips curl into a twisted, unnatural grin.)

Ethan: (voice deep, guttural) You shouldn’t have stayed, Lila.

(The streetlights go out. The wind stops. And in the suffocating silence, Lila realizes—she’s not alone.)
